Under Armour has appointed Marriott International President Stephanie Linnartz as its President, CEO and member of its board of directors following a search that began in May 2022. Linnartz will officially join the athletic performance brand on Feb. 27, 2023, succeeding Patrik Frisk, the former President, CEO and member of the board of directors who stepped away from the role in June 2022. Interim President and CEO Colin Browne will resume his role as COO after leading the company since Frisk’s departure.

Linnartz was appointed President of Marriott in 2021 and currently is leading the hospitality brand’s multi-billion dollar technology transformation, designed to improve customer experience, drive topline revenue and increase operational efficiency. Linnartz also led the company’s global strategy and manages Mariott’s Bonvoy loyalty program, global hotel development, operations services and design organizations.

Prior to her role as President, Linnartz, who joined Marriott in 1997, held roles in sales, marketing and finance, rising to EVP and Global Chief Commercial Officer from 2013 to 2019 and serving as Group President of Consumer Operations, Technology and Emerging Businesses from 2020 to 2021. Early in her career, Linnartz worked with Hilton Worldwide. She sits on the boards of The Home Depot and the College of the Holy Cross, her alma mater.

“As a 25-year veteran of one of the world’s most respected global companies, we are thrilled to welcome Stephanie to the brand,” said Kevin Plank, Under Armour Executive Chair and Brand Chief in a statement. “She is a proven growth leader with a distinguished track record of brand strategy, omnichannel execution, talent acquisition and development, and passion for driving best-in-class consumer connectivity, experience and brand loyalty.”
