Starship Technologies robot delivery service goes live at Missouri S&T — Retail Technology Innovation Hub

“I’m really excited for these robots! Having the ability to get breakfast delivered right to my door simply with my meal plan will be a lifesaver for early classes and long days,” says student Olivia Romisch.

Starship is providing services to campuses across the country, including Bowling Green State University, University of Utah and University of Idaho.

It says that, since launch, all campuses have increased the number of robots, dining options and hours of operation to meet the high demand for the service.

“We’re looking forward to serving the Missouri S&T campus community,” says Chris Neider, Director of Business Development at Starship Technologies.

“We know these students appreciate tech so we think it will be a great experience for them to interact with our robots every day. Plus, we can’t wait to hire some of them for valuable real-world training.”

2022 RTIH Innovation Awards

Starship Technologies is among the nominees in the Supply Chain category at the 2022 RTIH Innovation Awards.

Berkshire Grey, 1MRobotics, Tapestry, and e2open are also in the running.

Starship is shortlisted for its work with Tesco.

The pair are working together to help with last mile delivery.

A small basket delivery service operates out of 18 Express stores in Milton Keynes and Northampton.

Customers place orders via the Starship app and Tesco colleagues pick the order before placing the items in the robot – the system can even deliver alcohol using automated age verification.

Tesco now has a dedicated fleet of Starship robots and is measuring how that impacts customer experience.

RTIH Editor, Scott Thompson, says: “Innovation and technology play a critical role in the success of the retail sector, so it is great to recognise standout examples through our awards.”

“Thanks to all those who have entered the 2022 event. We received a record number of submissions and many fantastic examples of the continued resilience and dynamism of the retail space during hugely challenging times.”

“I’m now looking forward to deciding the winners with our judging panel and announcing them at our central London event in December.”
